Repairing Your Grill

Whether you have a Duncane grill or not, the repair procedures are virtually the same for all grills. However, you do need to replace Duncane grill parts with Duncane replacement parts. Using the wrong part (unless it is universal) can be a dangerous thing and can cause serious damage to your grill.

Too Much Smoke During Grilling

This is normally caused by a large build up of grease in your grill and on the burners. Give it a good cleaning and preheat for 15 minutes to burn off any residue. (more burner tips found on the link below)

Fire Behind the Control Panel

This is normally caused by misaligned or blocked venturi tubes. After the grill is cooled, inspect to make sure all parts are fitting together. Make sure to check hoses and fuel lines to make sure they are not cracked, melted or burned through. (Info on ventri hoses found on the link below)

Additional Grill Tips

Keeping your grill clean will add years to the life of your grill. Therefore, clean your grill after each use.

Inspect your grill for problems after every grill season

Check the hoses regularly for leaks

DCS Grill Parts

Find all your DCS Grill Parts all at the same place. If you need a DCS Grill Replacement Part, then you have come to the right place. When you repair your grill, you save money and extend the life of your grill. The DCS grill is a good grill and replacing a few parts is definitely worth the effort.

Repairing Your Grill

It is important to only replace DCS grill parts with DCS replacement parts. Grill parts are not meant to be interchanged with different brands. Only the universal parts can be changed. Otherwise, stick to your DCS grill parts.

Low Flame: The grill just doesn’t want to heat up/ won’t get hot.

This can be cause by several things. Taking it from the fuel source to the flame, we will begin with the burner.

Newer propane tanks contain a self regulating feature that will automatically slow down the flow of fuel if the grill believes it is set too high. This can be solved by turning the tank valve off completely and disconnecting it. Open the control valves (on the grill control panel) and then close them again. Reconnect the fuel tank and slowly turn on the valve. Try to light the grill to see if that solves the problem.

Otherwise check the control valve(s) and venturi tubes for obstruction and alignment. (You can find out how by clicking the links at the bottom) Make sure the flow of fuel is continuous.

Check the burner for clogged gas holes. (Again, burner instructions are at the bottom) You can usually see this problem by observing how the grill burns. If there are spots without flame, then chances are you have a clogged burner.

Uneven Heating: One side or one area of the grill is much hotter/colder than the rest of the grill.

This problem is similar to the low flame problem. Check there for solutions first. If you have multiple burners, check if one burner is burning hotter than the other. (more info on burners can be found at the links below)

Yellow or orange flame: A proper flame burns blue with yellow tips.

Try cleaning the burner or letting it burn on high for 15 minutes. (See burner link below)

Venturi tubes may not be properly aligned. (see Ventri Tube Link Below)

Venturi shutters might need adjustment. First, locate the venturi tube adjustment screw. This screw releases the shutters. Light the grill and turn it to low. Loosen the screw and open the shutters until the flame is mostly blue. Turn off gas and tighten the adjustment screw. Let the grill cool.

Find a way selection of Charmglow Grill Parts at the lowest price on the web. Feel free to browse through all the Charmglow replacement parts and order what you need. Repairing your Charmglow Grill can extend its life for years. Repairing your grill is not all that tough either.

Repairing Your Grill

Whether you have a Charmglow grill or not, repairing grills are virtually the same. However, you do need to replace Charmglow grill parts with Charmglow replacement parts. Using the wrong part (unless it is universal) can be a dangerous thing.

Burners: Burners come in many shapes, sizes and materials particular to your specific grill. What the burner is made of will tell you pretty much how long it will last. Burners range from aluminized steel (which are cheap) to cast brass and stainless steel (which are more expensive but worth the money).

Low end burners will typically last approximately three years under normal circumstances and with proper care. Because the burner is exposed to direct heat, it tends to get covered in burnt on grease and can corrode quickly. Inspect and clean your burner regularly to prevent flare ups and to add life to your grill. If the burner is damaged or heavily corroded, you will need to replace it. Be sure to replace it with the same size and shape of burner but consider purchasing one of a better quality metal if yours isn’t top of the line. This is not the place to skimp.

Barrier/Radiant: In between the burner and the cooking grate is something. Some call it a barrier; some people call it a radiant. It is called a radiant because it is supposed to absorb and release heat evenly to the cooking surface. In actuality, it is a place for the grease to drip and burn off before it hits (and ruins) the burners. Whatever you call it, it is the lava rocks, ceramic briquettes or metal plates. These need to be replaced periodically as they become coated with burnt grease and food. Additionally, it can create an unpleasant flavor on foods as they age.

Lava rocks, because they are porous tend to need replacement more often. Metal plates can typically be cleaned and used for a longer time. Inspect your barrier. If it is broken up, heavily coated or simply not creating a sufficient barrier, consider replacing it.

Find all your Brinkmann Grill Parts needs in one location. If there is a Brinkmann Grill Replacement Part, you can bet you will find it here. Repairing your gas or charcoal grill can extend the life of you grill for years to come. Replacing the parts is easy if you have the right parts.

Repairing Your Grill

While repairing your grill is easy, you need to match the parts to the grill you own. For example, Brinkmann grill parts only work on Brinkmann grills. Don’t try to put a Brinkmann part on any other grill. It could be dangerous. Only universal parts can be interchanged.

The Tank: If you have a new tank and an old grill, the grill’s safety device may be cutting off the fuel. To fix this problem, turn the gas only half way on.

Fuel Hose and Regulator: The regulator attaches to the tank by a hose with an O-ring to create a seal. Regulators cannot be adjusted by you. The regular has a small vent hole in the center. Common problems here are clogged vent holes. Usually you can clear it by tapping or blowing into the vent. Other problems are fuel leakage caused by a worn or damaged hose or O-ring. To determine if there is leaking mix dish soap and water in equal parts and coat everything from the tank to the venturi tubes. The tank needs to be connected and on but the control valves off.

Control Valves: The controls control the flow of fuel to the burner. Some grills have one control valve and others have several. The valve consists of several components that are specifically designed on a number of factors. You cannot repair a bad control valve. You will have to replace the whole thing. Before you do, however remove the control valve from your grill and inspect it. Like other parts of your grill, insects love to climb in here and make their homes. At the heart of this is the orifice. The orifice controls the flow of fuel and can become clogged. If it is use a thin wire to clean out. Make sure you put it all back together the way you found it. Without the orifice you cannot control the amount of gas flowing to the burner and run the risk of explosion.

Venturi Tubes: The venturi tubes connect the control valve to the burner(s) and mix the fuel with air to provide flame. To mix the air into the fuel there is an open gap in the fuel line here that can easily become obstructed. Insects like to make this their home so check it out. To keep critter out, attach an aluminum screen that will keep out insects but will not block the airflow.

Another common problem is the tube and the burner do not line up right. Typically the venturi tubes are simply placed in the fuel line and can get knocked out of place. The venturi tubes typically have adjustable shutters. You may need to adjust these to regulate fuel flow.

More Information can be found on Burners, Barrier/Radiants, Low Flame, Uneven Heating, Yellow or Orange Flame, Too Much Smoke, and Flame Behind the Control Panel.

It is every barbecuer’s nigthmare. You go to grill and dang it. The BBQ burner has burned out! It is enough to make you want to kick the grill, throw it in the trash and buy a new one. But, before you go storming off to buy an expensive grill, check out burner replacements. You might save your grill and a lot of money.

How to Replace BBQ Burners (Propane)

First check your owner’s manual to determine which burner you will need.

Remove the old burners. Generally, this can be done with a slight tug. If this does not work, then you will need to check the owner’s manual to determine the proper technique to remove the burner.

Check the connector piece. You want to make sure it is clean and free from any visible damage. You can clean the piece with hot soapy water. Then dry thoroughly.

Insert the new burners. This will be the reverse of how you took it out.

Turn on the propane tank and listen for sounds of leaks. You can also spray a solution of soapy water onto the burner. If it bubbles, then there is a leak.

If everything goes right, you should be able to install a new burner in a matter of minutes.

BBQ Burners Tips & Warnings

ALWAYS CHECK THE BOOK FOR THE CORRECT PART NUMBER

Cast Brass Burners - These are considered the best type of propane burning elements.

Keep all flames away from the grill while you are working. Gas gets trapped in the hoses and can easily catch fire.

A Clean Burner Last Longer

To clean your burners you will need:

2 – 1 gallon buckets

Clean cloth

Sandpaper

Towel

Instructions

Remove all grill grates, plates and anything else that covers the burner.

Remove the propane tank (prevent accidental lighting)

Fill a large bucket (1 gallon or more) with 2tsp of dish soap and half gallon of HOT water

Fill another bucket with warm water

Scrub down the burner with using a cloth from the soapy water.

Clean the connector tubes

With the clean water, wipe all soap off the burners and tubes

Take sandpaper and scrub all rust away, then dry the burner to prevent rusting

Mr. Bar-B-Q Platinum

I have seen it in medium and large

It is fire resistant

1 reviewer said the medium fit the Charbroil smoker BBQ

Price: medium: $19.99, large $24.99

Amazon rating on both medium and large is 4-5 stars

Problems: After reading several review, it seems some people have issues with the lifetime warranty. The few problems that I have read was an inability to find a number where someone answered.

Playhut EZ Twist Heavy Duty Large BBQ Grill Cover

Twist in fold feature allows you to store it flat (I guess when cooking… when else would you store it?)

Reviewers say it last 3+ years

Price: $25.00

My favorite part of this cover is the design. While most covers look like you through a garbage sack over your grill, this to me says cover. I like the way it looks better.

Char-Broil 2186140 Patio Caddie Cover

This is designed to fit the Char-Broil Patio Caddie

Amazon rating 3 stars (Yeah, I though Char-Broil would rate higher too)

Price $14.66

Problems: Reviewers seem to think it is nothing more than a dust cover. Of the many reviews I read, the problem seems to be its lack of durability and its tendency to fly away in a hard wind.

Weber Grill Cover

First, let me say there are a ton of these and they all rated well on Amazon. So, that being said, people generally like this brand, even though it is a bit pricy.

Weber 7553 Premium Cover for Weber Genesis Gas Grills $41

Weber 7573 Premium Cover for Weber Spirit 200/300 Gas Grills $37

Weber 7452 Premium Kettle Cover, Fits 18.5-Inch Charcoal Grills $17

Weber 6553 Premium Cover, Fits Weber Q-300 Grill $19

Weber 7553 Genesis Series Cover $43

Weber 7451 Standard Kettle Cover, Fits 22.5-Inch Charcoal Grills $8 (Yes, this one is CHEAP)

Finding a Good Deal on a BBQ Grill Cover

First, you need to shop around. Going directly to a name brand site without looking around will not get you a discount. However, these places do advertise across the web. Sometimes, they offer discounts in the advertising. So, if you see a good price in an add, don’t be afraid to click it. It just might save you money.

Second, be ware of shipping. A good deal can go bad fast with a heavy item and steep shipping. Look for places that ship for free. Free shipping is probably the best way to get a discount on and barbecue grill part, cover or not.

When it comes to BBQ Grills, even the best ones break and eventually you will need BBQ grill parts and BBQ accessories. Here we will discuss everything from BBQ burners, BBQ grill covers, BBQ grill doors, and so much more. As always, I put up these sites for informational purposed only. Any product I mention is based purely on giving out accurate information and not as promoting any one product. Whether you buy barbeque grill parts or not, it has nothing to do with me. This is an information only site.

Replaceable BBQ Grill Parts

Given time, all barbeque grills will go out. You will either need to replace the parts or buy a completely new grill. If you are so inclined, then replacement parts are available. Generally, you will find these items need replacing:

BBQ Burners – Propane, electric, and natural gas grills all have burners. Eventually, you will need to replace these. Depending on the brand and model, the price will vary. However, they are normally easy to replace and well worth the effort.

Hoses – The hoses will crack, bend, break and otherwise leak. While most people don’t recognize a leak until they have an empty tank or a high gas bill, you can spray a mixture of soap and water onto the hose to test for leaks. In most cases, the hoses are cheap and easily replaced.

BBQ Grill Doors – Yes, even doors stop working. They can rust, burn (from fires), and hinges can break. You need to check the pricing of a new door because while some are worth replacing, others are not. Sometimes, it is just cheaper to buy a new grill.

BBQ Grates – Even the cleanest BBQer will have to replace the grates eventually. To make your grates last longer, clean them after every use. Some people have found that rubbing an onion that has been cut in half on the grates not only cleans the grates, but also adds a nice seasoning.

BBQ Grill Igniter – Again, checking with the manufacturer will tell you if it is worth replacing. A tip to keep it working longer is to clean it with the rest of the grill. While this is NOT recommended, some people find long matches work in igniting a grill. However, this can be dangerous and is under no circumstances a recommended course of action. Do so at your own risk.

Keeping the Grill Clean Makes It Last Longer

The number one thing that destroys BBQ grill parts is grease. Grease build up ruins the grates, the heat plates, the rocks, the door, and even the igniter. Therefore, it is vitally important to clean up the grease after every barbeque.
